Two leads of the thermistor is shorted?
Different surgery?
Try with lick detectors disconnected

@Poofjunior suggested the issue might come because the pins in the board are touching the animal. That would connect both circuits and thus create the crosstalk between them.

  • The current solution being tested is isolating the pins of the thermistor to ensure that they don't touch the animal.
  • Final test would be testing these animals when they lick with the new lick sensor and check whether the crosstalk is still present.

Received conductive paint suggested by Pete.
Use this in next thermistor implant batch to improve electrical contact between headframe and skull
