When people put backquotes in the titles of their JOSS submissions, it can make some of the title in the PDF look good, but it messes up the metadata that we eventually send to crossref and that is part of the citation for the work.
Can we add something to our docs and our sample paper to tell authors not to do this?

could this also be a filter in document preprocessing? depending on how often it happens, seems like it might be worth addressing the reason ppl are wanting to use backquotes :)
