I am a postdoc at the University of Wisconsin-Madison working with Claudia Solis-Lemus. We have created an introductory to data science website designed to teach middle and high school students about data science and statistics. We've created the website on GitHub pages and cover many of the same topics discussed in an introductory statistics course but communicated in a way that should be engaging for our target audience using interest facts, humor, analogies, and focusing more on concepts than equations. We think this addresses the need of students who would be interested in statistics but don't necessarily think in terms of equations. We've incorporated multi-media to increase the educational and entertainment value of the website. Sample data for the statistical concepts and tests discussed on the website are all created in R Studio and links to the R script is available for anyone to access.
Would our website fit into an article for JOSE? If you need more information, I am happy to chat more or pass along the website link.
