Hi all. As one of the administrators here, I thought I'd share a little about my experience: I was born in Wales, raised in the UK. I was incredibly lucky to receive my first computer in 1983 - a Dragon 32 - and upgraded to a BBC Model B a year later. That was it - I was obsessed, and my future career was set in stone! 😁 In 1992, I graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science and Microelectronics and spent several years developing in assembly, C/C++, Delphi, and web tech (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), and Java. I formed my first startup in 1995 which was enormous fun, but an unmissable opportunity arose ... at Microsoft! I joined Microsoft UK's Consulting Services practice in 2000 where I helped businesses and governments throughout the UK and EMEA build and deploy large-scale distributed systems, web sites & services. At the start of 2003, I moved with my family to the beautiful PNW having accepted a position at Microsoft in Redmond, WA, as a PM for Microsoft's distributed computing tech (RPC, DCOM, COM+, MTS, WCF (nee "Indigo"). I then went on to work on Windows CardSpace (nee "InfoCard"), and as a developer on Visual Studio. I then left Microsoft in 2010, and spent 6 years consulting, running startups, working on HBO's video streaming services and apps. I was enormously excited to re-joined Microsoft in 2016 to deliver two true passion-projects:
I am now driving several initiatives across Windows and several partner teams to help make Windows an even more awesome platform for ALL developers, and, with your help, find and fix issues that impact developers on Windows Hence this repo! 😜 You can also find me on Twitter (@richturn_ms). I look forward to meeting you and learning more about how you want Windows to change, adapt, and improve and become an awesome platform for your development needs. |
